Ljupcho Manevski

Born on 13 September 1971 in Skopje, R. Macedonia. His first contacts with folklore start since he was 8 years old when he became a member of the folk ensemble of the Youth center “Karposh” in Skopje. After 5 years, as one of the best dancers, he continues to dance in the best amateur ensemble in Macedonia “Orce Nikolov”. His first teacher is the famous dancer Tofe Drakulevski. In 1980 he becomes a member of the solo professional state ensemble of folk dances and songs in Macedonia “Tanec”.
After 4 years he becomes a leading dance soloist in “Tanec” and in 1998 he is appointed to be an Coordinating Assistant of the dancing group. Since 2000 he is the manager of the dance ensemble of “Tanec” and he remains on that function until nowadays.

During this period he represents the Macedonian dances on the “Tanec’ concerts all over the world. He is always spotted as an extraordinary dancer who gives huge energy, love and knowledge in every move and every step in the extremely difficult and rich Macedonian dances. One may say that he is a truly gifted and dedicated folk dancer whit highest technical and artistic characteristics.
In the period from 2000 to 2010, he is also working as a field explorer of the authentic dances and songs of Macedonia. As a part of a scientist team of “Tanec” he is working on a reconstruction of the old Macedonian folk dances.
In this period, together with Goran Alachki, he is also working as a constructor on several Balkan folk festivals and seminars. Their workshops are very successful and educative. They are also marked as the most appreciated and well-known Macedonian folk instructor. He is also a choreographer  on two dances in "Tanec" among which: "Zensko Chamche" and "Kopachka". The project "Macedonian Love Story" is one of his greatest achievements and one of the most popular choreodrama where the songs and dances of the village and city life are interveining.  He has also been working on the project “ Za zdravje i beriket”, which includes all the celebrations, customs and beliefs happening throughout the whole year. He has been taking part and instructing in many seminars throughout the world, among which : Balkan Folk – Bulgaria 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2005, Valos- Greece 2005, USA 2006, 2007, Japan 2008 and in the seminar “Macedonian Pearl Folk Seminar” 2006, 2007 and 2008 . In 2009 he represented Macedonia on the opening of the World Championship in handball in Split, Croatia. He has been working as a choreographer since 2009 up until nowadays in the folk ensemble “Nikola Jonkov Vapcarov”- Skopje. Here he has been working on the reforming process of the folk ensemble, together with giving a new spirit to the already known dances and songs and increasing the membership number with his exquisitely patient and thorough method of instructing. With his effort and the effort of his family – including his wife, son, and daughter, these days, this ensemble counts over 250 active members and participants. Currently, he takes part in the production of a new performance in the Macedonian theatre known under the name “2012- poslednite Makedonci”.
